Welcome to May 4 Today’s prompt is: Your earliest memory
So that you don’t feel alone in your embarrassment, here’s the story of my earliest memory.
My earliest memory happened around the age of one, before the 2-lane street in front of our home morphed into an 8-lane highway.
My sister walked with my mother to the local stores, but I was relegated to a stroller. Later in my life, I’d know the trek spanned 5 blocks that totaled a half mile. McCrory’s, Sears, and other larger stores were in shopping centers facing each other. This is where my earliest memory begins.
I remember the sounds of their voices, but I was too young to understand the words. I can still close my eyes and feel fear. I still see the wheels…
