If only I could have this view in front of me every morning when I step out on the street. The smell of pine in a light salty breeze coming from the sea, the sky clear and blue and just a few steps to the beach.


This is something I woke up to every day last week. I would get up earlier than usual, went to a local beach bar for coffee and after that just relaxed on the beach. Every time it got too hot I would just jump in the sea, swam a few laps and repeat. Now while sitting at my desk in Zagreb I can’t stop thinking about it, missing every moment.

Tricolored Passing By


We see Tricolored Herons around the swamps. They have even nested there, in the larger rookery. However their preferred environment is the open marshes and tidal lands.

This was taken in open old rice fields. The area is great for in flight shots… if the birds are within range.

The down side of these open areas is just that, wide open and birds will see you first. At the least you will get practice with your equipment.

FFFPP – 29 – Romantic Fool?

The Bag Lady

As I walked by this street cafe, I remembered our meeting here. I rarely go down this street anymore, memories tended to flood back. Each time I saw lovers sitting there I thought of him, and the heart sent another warning to my brain.

It has been a few years now. A wonderful romance at first, I thought we were meant for each other, barely existing outside of his reach. That might be the way of all first loves, the instant attraction, quick satisfaction of a need, even anticipating a future together.

If that was all, it sounds like enough for any relationship. If expecting perfection, you are a romantic fool. Possibly I should have that made into a t-shirt to wear when I’m in a strange place. It was this cafe, new to me when I met him.
