A Great Blue making his escape. I pulled my lens back as far as I could for this shot. This day I probably shot over 300 photographs of Herons.

My intent was to get more landscape, less bird. Which I obviously did.

I’m not sure if I pulled back too far, but the images are nice when viewed full screen.

The marshes are beautiful but too often not enough attention is drawn to them when photographing wildlife.

18. Did you like your childhood home? What did you like or not like about it?
Our house at 508 Wellington Street was a cool house. The way it was laid out, we could run circles around the inside of the house. Once, my little brothers and cousins were doing this and one of them got turned around. Two of the boys ran head on into each other. OUCH!
When we moved to Starr, it was an adventure. We spent some time without modern amenities, but that was okay…we were living in the woods! I loved living in the woods, riding my bike through them, and playing at the creek. It was great!

Daily two word prompt So Lucky
At the point when life appears to be unjustifiable and questionable,
some way or another you have the capacity
to facilitate the misery and
influence me to feel as though
everything will be alright.
You have an astonishing measure of quality
that helps me through the unpleasant circumstances
what’s more, an awesome comical inclination
that can transform the attacks grins.
Knowing you’re close by,
realizing that I have you to incline toward,
realizing that you will dependably be there,
gives me comfort.
I am so lucky to have you in my life
I am honored .

Daily Post Glorious
While on vacation looking out the window of the cabin there is a glorious view of the mountains.
September 18th is National Cheeseburger Day!
Foodimentary - National Food Holidays
Here are today’s five thing to know about Cheeseburger:
- The oldest fast food restaurant in the world is the White Castle franchise, which opened in 1921.
- The people of America eat more burgers out at restaurants or on the go than they do at home.
- The largest hamburger ever created was over 8,000 pounds and was cooked for a burger festival in Wisconsin.
- However, the hamburger in its current form, with ground beef and a bun, is a decidedly American creation.
- Hamburgers are made of beef, not ham, and there is much debate over whether they actually originated in Hamburg.
Today’s Food History
- 1709 Samuel Johnson, dictionary author, was born. I have read somewhere that he served his cat fresh shucked oysters.
- 1851 The first edition of the New York Times was published.
- 1883 Elmer Maytag was born. Founder of the Maytag Co., washing machine manufacturer. One of his descendants…

Roasted Salmon Tacos with Lemon and Feta Cream Sauce
My postings have been a bit sporadic lately. I am posting entirely from my phone or tablet since my laptop died two weeks ago. This is such a minor thing in the scheme of life but it is entirely frustrating to me as it takes so much longer to create a post and I don’t have the same capability to edit my photos. So you get the raw pictures of my plate.
My family loves salmon and I don’t make it nearly often enough. This is such a simple meal that it took about 30 minutes to make and have us seated at the table!
Verdict:
This was so very delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the cream sauce added a hint of freshness to the whole dish. We just added some baby spinach leaves to our tacos but you can add whatever you like to yours!
I served…

Great Blue Heron, Playing Chicken
They are very big birds, but head on so thin they are hard to see. Unless one is flying, full speed, right at you. And obviously on purpose I should add.

So fast and thin keeping focus was very difficult. Besides I could hear him coming. Obviously I stood there taking shots, like him I had no place else to go either.

Finally he reached to opening in the canopy and banked away.

I knew he wanted to get down the enclosed path to the open marsh before I cut him off. But there had to be other options.
Like the rest of us have sometimes ‘it was a good idea at the time’ moment. We all have them.
