NaNoToons_2017_10_04

I added a new picture of Debbie Ohi and myself on the about page! Huzzah! I wish I remembered when the first pic was taken.

Oh, and some people have asked if they could share Nanotoons. By all means, share them! Re-share them! Re-blog them. Post them on twitter, pinterest, instagram, facebook! And tag me if you can, I’d like to know when they are shared!

Morehouse Student Julien Turner Goes Viral With “XY Cell Life,” Extra Credit Rap Video for Biology Class (VIDEO)

GOOD BLACK NEWS

by Lori Lakin Hutcherson (@lakinhutcherson)

(image via YouTube screenshot)

Enterprising Morehouse College student and filmmaker Julien Turner went viral this week when he posted his extra credit assignment for biology class on Twitter and YouTube. “XY Cell Life” is a rap video explaining the different phases cells go through, what they are comprised up and how they operate. For those (like me) who grew up on Schoolhouse Rock or for those who love hip hop – or both – watch the above because you most definitely will enjoy.

On YouTube, Julien credits Dreadhead Films, LLC, a film production company he co-owns with 15-yr. old teenage brother Justen Turner, and their mission is to “entertain, inspire, and uplift” with their original content. You can check out other projects of the Turner Brothers at www.dreadheadfilms.com, or Vimeo at Dreadhead Films. Twitter: JuicyJu11 Instagram: K1ngJu

How Long Your Novel Should Be

A Writer's Path

by Doug Lewars

How long should your novel be? The simple answer is that it needs to be just long enough to tell your story. Animal Farm is only 29,966 words and it’s a pretty good tale. At the other end of the spectrum is War and Peace at 544,406.  That’s quite a difference.

Now ask yourself this. Have you read Animal Farm? There’s a good chance that you have – particularly since it was on the high-school English curriculum for some years. So have you read War and Peace? Some have – but then some people like to climb mountains, cross deserts and dive deep into the ocean. The point here is that if you have to make a mistake, you should probably err on the low side.

Tomato noodle soup (Vegetarian)

Recipes by chefkreso

Tomato soup always reminds me of my grandmother, as many other recipes do. She had a few signature dishes and as a kid I would spend my weekends over at her house where she would show me how to cook. Even if I didn’t ask I would always see her rolling out the dough or standing over the oven preparing a family dinner. No matter what her age was or how tired she felt, she gave her all to prepare something we would all enjoy and think about for days to come. She was always an inspiration to me, and someone I think of when ever I put an apron on and start the oven.

Today when ever you go to the store you can see instant-soups you can buy and prepare in 5 min. That’s not just the case with soups, you can buy frozen Lasagna you can just…

Responsibility

The PBS Blog

Renaissance Mock-UpRenaissance: The Nora White Story (Book One) is available now on Amazon

The so-called Black man, woman, and child have been miseducated on more than one level. We’ve been miseducated mentally, physically and even spiritually. We have lost knowledge not just of who we are but who our creator is and what our duty is as a people. My job, therefore, is to do my part to resurrect truths that have been hidden and glossed over and whitewashed for too long. Not only is this my job, it is my responsibility and not just my responsibility but yours too. We are always responsible for what we know. If I sugarcoat or water down the facts I am responsible for the miseducation of the so-called Negro in much the same way as a History teacher is responsible. One of the reasons I chose to be an Independent artist is because of…
