White Ibis In Flight, Landing

This type of in flight is my favorite. You can clearly see the different layers of wing feathers. The ‘Coverts’, the first layer of wing feathers bend and flare based on the wing position.

On most birds these Coverts are small, but on bigger shore birds they make a great image when wings are spread open to slow down for a landing.
