For this week’s Lucky Dip, I have reached into my mystery bag and pulled out a Triquain. Since there are many variations and complexities to this poetry form, the topic is up to you!

You may be thinking to yourself, What on earth is a Triquain?

Luckily, Shadow Poetry has an explanation…

Triquain
The Triquain, was created by Shelley A. Cephas. It is a poem with several creative variences and can be a rhyming or non-rhyming verse.

What are the different Triquain structures?

Simple
7 lines with 3, 6, 9, 12, 9, 6, and 3 syllables in this order.

Triquain Chain
A string of 2 to 4 Triquains, a space between each triquain.
2 stanzas – 3, 6, 9, 12, 9, 6, 3 3, 6, 9, 12, 9, 6, 3
3 stanzas – 3, 6, 9, 12, 9…
