Travels and Trifles

“Fill the canvas of life with the colors of peace, bliss, beauty and love.”

Graffiti covered wall with mini car WACKY WALL

This week I’ve decided it’s time to lighten up and introduce some fun and frivolity to our challenge. To that end, I’ve opened with a capture from the archives that makes me smile every time I look at it. Yes the wall is amazing but it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun without the tiny little car parked in front 😊.

“Do what makes you happy; don’t be afraid to color outside the lines.”

Peggy Toney Horton

This summer during our visit to the Hudson Valley we enjoyed exploring some of the many wonderful art exhibits, including Omi International in Ghent, NY. There I found myself wondering about the sculpture I captured in the image above. I was drawn to the bold colors but admit I thought perhaps…

FOWC with Fandango — Euphemism

This, That, and the Other

FOWCWelcome to August 26, 2018 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “euphemism.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

Then, randomly, my sister and I went looking for duck breast to make a planned dinner tonight. Apparently there’s not many people in or around SLC who eat duck. We went to a few places and called about ten. Most stores that focus solely on meat were closed on Saturdays and Sundays. We finally just gave up. It was frustrating and annoying, but we settled on a different plan. You know what they say about the best laid plans and all that.

Since I’ve been preparing for…

Awkward Spoonbill, Pink Wings

TPJphoto.net

I had no title for this article, except the reason I took the shot.

Spoonbill, Pink Wings - click to enlarge Spoonbill, Pink Wings – click to enlarge

It is very unusual to get this much detail and definition of a Spoonbills wings.

The only reason I even caught this was he kept falling off the muddy log. Marsh pluff mud is slipper, and smelly goo. But he wanted that log.

So, I got the shot.
